Nothing more can be said about the success of ‘The Avengers’ – money talks and bullshit walks.

‘The Avengers’ had a budget of $220 million plus marketing costs and it has made most that back in it’s opening weekend at the US box office.  When you add overseas box office the current haul for the superhero epic sits at $654 million. 

With a $1 billion dollars in sight, it puts Disney’s $4 billion dollar purchase of Marvel in 2009 in perspective as a decent investment when considering future Marvel films, merchandising and media.

The highest grossing superhero film of all time is ‘The Dark Knight’ with $533 million and the highest grossing film of all time is still ‘Avatar’ with $760 million.  Can ‘The Avengers’ go all the way?
